Attack the Track - Circuit of the Americas

This is the third episode of "Attack the Track"  by The Simpit.  This series is about learning how to dissect a track map and pick our most important corners.

Inspired by the Formula One race that will be going on this weekend in Austin Texas, this episode will feature the Circuit of the Americas.  This is a wonderful 3.4 mile long track that is built upon 20 different turns that feature a variety of corner types.  Circuit of the Americas has a flowing high speed layout with plenty of elevation change for added difficulty.

For this episode of Attack the Track we drive a dated but still very potent Formula One car using the simulation iRacing.

This is not a how to drive this track in a particular car.  We are not pointing out braking zones or turn in points.  Those things will change from sim to sim and car to car.  This is about picking the right driving line, and making good choices based on a track layout.

Drivers should be able to take what we learn here and take it to any track to learn the same thing.

I was hoping to participate in the next race and on Simracing System it says it's at Fuji. Which version of Fuji should I download.

I am all signed up and ready to race in the Carrera Cup, except for one thing.  How do I obtain Road America?  I do not have it in AC as one of my tracks.  Where is it?

Great review, you've convinced me to buy one of these for my rigsmile

One question, do you think the mounting brackets could be inverted (and swapped left to right) to mount it from the top?
