Welcome to Forza Horizon 2

By: Brian Ekberg

This comes to us from the Forza Horizon 2 Website:

Tuesday, September 30, 2014Welcome to Forza Horizon 2! Your ultimate southern European road trip has begun! Forza Horizon 2 is now available in a number of countries around the world, with more being added each day this week. Take a look at this quick rundown of some of the cool in-game stuff we’ve got going for launch week and beyond.

Livestream

First up, starting today, we will be livestreaming Forza Horizon 2 like nobody’s business. So whether you are stuck at work or school and waiting to play the game, or Horizon 2 isn’t out until later in the week where you like, you don’t want to miss our broadcast. Starting Tuesday Yours Truly (Mechberg), Johniwanna, and HeliosT10 will all be playing Forza Horizon 2 on the official Forza Twitch channel. Come hang out with us as we explore the highways and back roads of southern Europe, taking your requests and answering your questions as we go. We’ll also be playing multiplayer too so, if you see any of us online, say hello!

New Rivals Events

Naturally Forza Horizon 2 will feature Rivals events. In fact, just as in the original Forza Horizon, any event in the game’s solo career essentially becomes a Rivals event after you’ve finished it, allowing you to challenge the times of your friends and rivals around the world as much as you like. That’s hundreds of events to test your skill. But we wanted more. So we created a batch of custom Rivals events that you can take part in on launch day. Here’s a quick look:

…We Don’t Need Roads – Southern Europe features many miles of road to drive but these extreme off-road machines are at their best where the roads end.

Huracán Warning – The Lamborghini Huracán has arrived in style at the Horizon Festival. Now it’s time for a rip through the streets of Italy.

Be Quiet and Drive – Only the best B-class AWD cars will be able to handle this wet and wild romp through Nice.

Upside Down – It’s midnight in San Giovanni, the perfect to time to your best A-class car up and down the hills of the Old Town Circuit.

Grand Old Rally (VIP only) – Pilot the legendary Ford RS200 through this tricky cross-country course in Montellino.

To access these Rivals events, hit the Menu (Start) button and go to the “Rivals” option in the menu. To find the custom Rivals events, highlight the “Monthly Rivals” menu item and press A. The full list should appear and you’re good to go!

Mobil 1 Livery Contest

Starting today, we’ve got a contest going where Forza Horizon 2 players can win awesome prizes just for showing off their skills in the livery editor. Sponsored by Mobil 1, this contest will challenge Forza Horizon 2 players to come up with the coolest Mobile 1-themed livery on the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, 2013 McLaren P1, or the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series. Your design must include at least one Mobil 1 logo on the car itself. Once your car design is complete, you can save and upload it with the description “Mobil 1 Livery Contest” in the appropriate description field.

This contest is open until 11:59 p.m. Pacific on October 23, 2014 and is available to players on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of Forza Horizon 2.

Join a Club

Once you’ve progressed far enough in Forza Horizon 2’s solo mode, you’ll be able to check out clubs in the game. Like in the original Forza Horizon, clubs allow you to band together with other Forza Horizon 2 players. This time, however, you can earn XP to move your Club up the Club Leaderboard. At any point, you have the option to either start a new club from scratch or join an existing club. When joining a club, you can choose to join a friend’s club, see a list of recommended clubs, or search for a new club across a variety of criteria.

So, join or create? That’s the question. Which answer you come up with is entirely up to you but I can say that the Forza Community Team has a great club going with Club “More Oven” and we’re always looking for new members. Search for “More Oven” in the Club Search box and come join our winning team!

Thanks to everyone who has been excited to play Forza Horizon 2 since we announced it earlier this year. We can’t wait to hit the roads with you!

Hey Shaun:

I was hoping to participate in the next race and on Simracing System it says it's at Fuji. Which version of Fuji should I download.

Thanks!

Sean,
I am all signed up and ready to race in the Carrera Cup, except for one thing.  How do I obtain Road America?  I do not have it in AC as one of my tracks.  Where is it?

Great review, you've convinced me to buy one of these for my rigsmile

One question, do you think the mounting brackets could be inverted (and swapped left to right) to mount it from the top?

Hey man. Love your style and input on all your reviews. I have a question: my rig is fo the ps4, it has the thrustmaster t300 Alcántara edition, the fanatec clubsport v3 pedals, the cpx adapter from Basherboards, and I am looking forward to get this fanate shifter. You said that I could connect this shifter directly to the pedals via a USB cable. My question is: is that setup only for pc or will it work with the setup I provided above?

Thanks very much for your answer. I wouldn't wanna have to conform with the th8 because a misunderstanding of compatibility, and missing out on the fanatec Choice.

Thanks a bunch!
